Commission Decision regarding the follow-up to National Parliaments' Opinions - reply to RIKSDAG (SE) - COM(2025)45 final

EUROPEAN COMMISSION Dear President, Brussels, 15.5.2025 C(2025) 2909 final The Commission would like to thank the Riksdag for its Opinion on the Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions – Commission work programme 2025 – Moving forward together: A Bolder, Simpler, Faster Union {COM(2025) 45 final}. The Commission welcomes the support of the Riksdag for its work programme and in particular for its ongoing and planned policies and initiatives related to EU enlargement, internal and external security and defence, as well as its ambition to reduce administrative burdens and simplify EU rules. This year's work programme focuses on the main initiatives that the Commission will take in the first year of its new mandate, responding to the issues that matter most to Europeans. These initiatives drive the delivery of the priorities set out in the Political Guidelines of President von der Leyen for 2024-2029, while allowing sufficient flexibility to respond to urgent issues in the current fast-evolving geopolitical environment. The Commission has taken careful note of the point set out in the Riksdag’s Opinion regarding the application of the principle of subsidiarity in the preparations of the European democracy shield, and for its recommendations as to the areas where the Commission and the Union might provide support most effectively.
